X-ray computed tomography (CT) is an X-ray
procedures (methods) that can evaluate the morphological changes of organs and
tissues, which in turn contributes to clinical diagnosis. Data obtained with it
should be used only by the attending physician in conjunction with data
obtained by other methods.
CT scan is a map of the distribution of
in-plane tomography X-ray attenuation coefficients. For their analysis requires
special knowledge and skills. Therefore, the closer will be the interaction of
the attending physician and a specialist radiologist, the better the clinical
diagnosis.
Radiologist spends not only visual, but
densitometric analysis of the data. Provided with the X-ray CT scan of the conclusion of the
prints are not the object for which the possibility of accurate diagnostic
steps, but are used for illustrative purposes.
Currently, CT is divided into step
(traditional), CT, in which simultaneously scan 1 tomographic slice, and a
spiral CT scan, in which data is removed from all of the test, and then some of
them are reconstructed tomographic slices.
Helical is both of the following actions:
continuous rotation of the source - X-ray tube that generates the radiation
around the patient's body, and continued forward movement table with the
patient along the longitudinal axis through the aperture of the scanner - the
gantry. In this case, the trajectory of the X-ray tube relative to the axis of
movement of the table with the patient's body, takes the form of a spiral.
